99 Bikes navigates supply chain delays

Written by admin on January 7, 2022 in Business with no comments.

The rise of online retailers and the increasing number of stores carrying too much stock will create another supply chain crisis.
99 Bikes, which is based in Brisbane, has been experiencing a prolonged supply chain hold-up, which it has been able to resolve through ordering in advance.
Before the coronavirus pandemic, Pedal Group usually ordered its products several months in advance.
Due to the prolonged lead time, some products may not sell well in the long run. As a result, the company has to place orders for more inventory than it can use.
The impact of the pandemic on retailers globally is expected to be severe. This is another sign of the supply chain’s difficulties caused by the outbreak.
Despite the impact of the pandemic, the company would still be able to maintain its profitability through lean times and by taking on more inventory.
The company’s profit jumped by almost 40 percent in the last financial year.
Pedal Group has about 800 staff and about 60 stores in Australia and New Zeland.
The company’s profit growth was mainly attributed to the jump in demand for cycling products during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
Due to the huge increase in sales, Pedal Group was able to lower its storage and finance costs.
The company’s sales grew by 61 percent to $321 million in the last financial year. Its expenses were also pushed up by a 54 percent increase in wages.
Electric mountain bikes were among the popular products during the company’s.
Despite not taking on JobKeeper, the company accepted a government subsidy worth over $3.4 million.
Many stores such as Onceit have also seen strong tight supplies. You will can save on your purchase from Onceit with a Onceit coupon.

Coronavirus hit’s retailers in June

Written by admin on July 22, 2021 in Business with no comments.

Millions of Australian’s are now in lockdown and businesses are expected to feel more pain despite optimism just weeks ago that things were finally getting to normality. With retail stores asked to closed in much of NSW, Victoria and South Australia, retail is expected to feel the brunt of the restrictions.
The Delta strain of the Coronavirus has pushing Australia to the brink with crippling shut downs. A report by the Australian Bureau of Statistics has released retail figures for June which has shown that the turnover fell 1.8 per cent, seasonally adjusted. Victoria experienced the biggest drop in retail with a decline of 3.5 per cent. It is without surprise that July figures will be dramatically lower with a much great portion of the country plunged into lockdown.
In June, Victoria had shut downs early in the month but the government reduced these mid month but then later in the month Sydney had a Coronavirus cluster which imposed various restrictions around the state.
The biggest retail losers were cafes, takeaway, clothing, footwear and restaurants and July will prove to be the biggest drop in sales for 12 months. The Commonwealth Bank economists are predicting a 0.7 per cent drop in the September quarter. Government support is not as forthcoming as it was in the first wave so consumers will not be out in force as they were previously.
People are now flooding back to online shopping in droves. Stores such as Showpo are continuing to flourish. If you’re shopping at Showpo, use a Showpo promo code to save on your purchase.

Optus in deal to acquire Amaysim

Written by admin on November 24, 2020 in Business with no comments.

Amaysim is the leading low cost prepaid mobile phone carrier in Australia and their exploding popularity has led them down the path of a sale of the business. Having such a large customer base means that interest in the VAS (Value added service provider) will be high.
Amaysim has come to an agreement with Australia’s second largest Telco, Optus, to acquire it’s business in a deal worth $250 million. Concerns have been raised that the acquisition will lead to a dramatic fall in competition within the prepaid mobile phone sector. However ,the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) has said that it will not oppose the deal even though concerns have been raised.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission last year tried to block the merger of TPG Telecom and Vodafone Hutchinson Australia but failed. That deal was a much larger and significantly public one that the Amaysim and Optus deal and the ACCC lost the fight. Losing that deal was a big blow to the ACCC and they may not want to repeat the embarrassment.
Optus looks like it will be a big winner from the deal as Amaysim are due to renew their massive wholesale contract with a telecom partner.

New Zealanders are spending up big

Written by admin on November 14, 2020 in Business with no comments.

With Coronavirus virtually supressed in the country, New Zealanders have gone on a huge spending rush as they enjoy their time out of lockdown.

Retail NZ has compiled statistics around retail behaviour post Covid lockdown and it shows that the country is tracking at a higher spending level than last year, something completely unexpected considering the country has been on lockdown for 4 weeks. In fact, overall spending was up by 0.3 percent for the months between March and October 2020.  Of those months, October was exceptionally good with retail sales up 20.8 per cent compared to last year.

The strong increase in retail sales was attributed to the fact that New Zealanders had money saved away due to having lesser means of spending it. Not only did they have money saved away, there are also record low interest rates, higher house prices and New Zealanders spending very little on holidays.

Despite the good results, not all areas of retailing are benefiting from the spending boom. A good number of businesses have taken a huge hit from Covid, and continue to suffer during the months that have followed lock down. Theses business include those that are tourism and those that have not been able to take advantage of online shopping.

A store that has done particularly well during the Covid epidemic is Onceit. Use a Onceit promo code to save on your purchase.
